DTEK RES and the Danish company Vestas, the world leader in the production of wind turbines, signed an agreement for the construction of the first stage of the DTEK Tiligul wind farm (WPP) with a capacity of 126 MW. This is stated in the message of the Ukrainian energy company.
Financing of the first stage of the Tiligul wind farm is planned from the funds raised in 2019 as a result of the issuance of green Eurobonds.
“This project will become an effective step for the DTEK group to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040 and Ukraine's contribution to the implementation of the European Green Deal program ... The implementation of the strategy for the development of generating capacities in green energy will be a significant contribution of the DTEK group to the decarbonization of the economy of Ukraine and Europe as a whole ", - noted in the company.
DTEK Tiligulskaya WPP will install 21 innovative onshore wind turbines Vestas with a capacity of 6 MW each. Thanks to the latest developments, the new turbine generators are able to maximize power generation in low to medium wind conditions.
A new generation of wind turbines was launched into industrial production at the beginning of 2021 and one of the first where they will be installed will be a Ukrainian wind farm. This model is the largest on-shore wind turbine in the Vestas portfolio with a diameter of 126 meters.
Preparatory work is being completed at the DTEK Tiligul wind farm site, construction work will begin in March and will last until the end of 2021. The operation of the first stage of the 126 MW wind farm will help reduce CO2 emissions by 504 thousand tons per year. Thanks to the construction of the wind farm in the region, several hundred temporary and dozens of permanent jobs will be created.
The construction project of DTEK Tiligul wind farm provides for the possibility of increasing the capacity to 564 MW.
DTEK was established in 2005 to manage the energy assets of the System Capital Management group of Rinat Akhmetov. The corporation has been delegated the functions of strategic management of the group's enterprises that make up a vertically integrated chain of coal mining and processing, electricity production and sale.
