Strengthening of the hryvnia, recent, reflects the growing demand for the national currency, and will continue, if the economy will grow as expected by the government, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk.
According to him, the growth rate of the national currency has its pros and cons, and consider it as a negative phenomenon not worth it.
"I wouldn't say that the strengthening of the hryvnia is a bad thing... current trends show us that if the economy is growing (and in fact, this is exactly what we expect, what will work), then, of course, under normal conditions, the hryvnia will be strengthened", – he told on air of TV channel "Украина24".
the Prime Minister called among the advantages of the appreciation of the hryvnia, in particular, wage growth in dollar terms, the reduction of investment imports, while the negative appreciation of the national currency affects exporters and the budget.
Goncharuk did not predict the course during the first months of the new year, noting that it was more the prerogative of the National Bank. At the same time, he said that roughly by the end of February the issue will be put on adjustment of the macroeconomic forecast in 2020 and the appropriate amendment to the state budget.
"At a time when actively changing macroeconomic conditions, of course, the budget will be reviewed. This is a normal process. It is obvious that already in the first months we get a new macroeconomic forecast. Going to sit down with the specialists of the National Bank and plan how we react to what happens," he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Minister of economic development and agriculture of Ukraine Tymofiy mylovanov said that the decline industry has become systemic and requires swift action by the state.
"In contrast to the expectations in November worsened the situation in the mining industry, engineering, supply of electricity, gas and steam - the industrial activities with the greatest negative contribution" - said the official.
He said that the economy Ministry is working on signing a Memorandum with the industry of the primary steps, strategy and plan of action for the protection and development of the industry is also beginning to work with staff on the current situation of infrastructure, which will include industry representatives, UZ and ports.
