Tesla updated its model S and Model X, adding higher capacity batteries. The updated machine can travel without recharging (EPA) 390 and 351 mile (565 and 630 km) compared to the previous 328 and 373 miles.
in addition, the model's Long Range Plus now comes standard with new 19-inch wheels Tempest. The model X retains the same wheel sizes 20" / 22" as before the update.
major update transmission should appear in this year, and should further increase the battery capacity.
it is Not clear whether the upgrade any hardware changes or is it a result of more fine-tuning of the software and formula of the effectiveness of Tesla.
the last time Tesla updated the model S and X in April after making some changes to the drivetrain. This has led to the improvement of the range by more than 10% (later they corrected a bit the digits, adding 3 more miles).
New 19-inch wheels can give an aerodynamic advantage compared to the previous choices of wheels. Tempest wheel more "flat" than the previous choice of wheels, and thus may be slightly better for aerodynamics.
on Friday evening, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that "all the cars S/X made in recent months, in fact, exceed the stated EPA range. The new mode will be unlocked for free using software update".

Tesla also is considering adding more options of wheels and tires, because the more aerodynamic wheels (e.g., basic wheel model 3) or tires with lower rolling resistance can increase the driving range of over 400 miles.
