In 2020 it is planned to begin construction of the narrow gauge (1 435 mm) in the direction of Mostiska - Sknyliv. This was announced by the Director of strategic development and investment policy of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsya" Anton Sobolewski, introducing major infrastructure projects for the development of passenger traffic.
According to the representative of the Ukrainian Railways, the construction of the path, corresponding to the European standards, will allow the passenger to Board the train in Lviv, and offers direct access to European countries. The interest in this project already showed the Polish and Czech railway workers.
Also Anton Sobolewski announced the intention of the Railways to start the electrification of the direction Kovel - Izov: "We have provided the beginning of works in our financial plan for the year 2020. If CMU and NIU will support this decision of Railways, then in 2020 we'll start work."
the project Implementation will allow to increase the volume of traffic with the EU countries, in particular the transport of goods a wide-gauge line in Poland. Also thanks to the introduction of the electric drive train will be reduced operating expenses of the company.
For important projects this year already announced a tender for the modernization of the direction of the Dolinskaya - Nikolaev. In Ukrzaliznytsya plans to electrify this stretch until 2023, and Nikolaev - Kolosovka - until 2024.
