Italian factories Metinvest Ferriera Valsider and Metinvest Trametal are currently operating normally, reported in the holding's press service. The factories resumed their work in connection with the expiration of the decree of the Italian government, which, among other things, suspended the work of the country's metallurgical enterprises due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ferriera Valsider capacities were launched from April 30, Metinvest Trametal - from April 12. The presence of semi-finished products in the warehouses of enterprises will allow to quickly resume the normal pace of work if there is a demand for metal products. The expected production volume at Ferriera Valsider in May will be 32 thousand tons of rolled metal, at Metinvest Trametal - 40 thousand tons.
As a reminder, on March 23, Metinvest suspended the work of two of its rolling enterprises in Italy. This decision was made in connection with the COVID-19 virus pandemic and the fulfillment of the requirements of the Italian government to suspend the work of the country's metallurgical enterprises.
Previously it was reported that in the 1st quarter, steel production at Metinvest's plants grew by 30%, primarily due to an increase in iron smelting at the Ukrainian enterprises of the group.
