Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (MMK, Donetsk region), a member of the Metinvest Group, is completing one of the largest environmental projects in the history of independent Ukraine - the reconstruction of the sinter plant of the metallurgical plant, investments in which amounted to more than $ 150 million.
As reported by "Metinvest-Mariupol " on its Facebook page on Monday, the largest environmental project in the history of independent Ukraine is coming to an end.
"Large-scale work on the project has been going on for several years. The sintering machines are being modernized step by step and modern aspiration units are being installed. The sintering machines are used to repair the exhaust gas collectors, the gas-air ducts of the hearth, replace the exhauster snails and vacuum chambers. In this connection, adjustments were made to the project - the existing treatment plant at the charge preparation site was replaced with a new efficient bag filter VU-11, which has already been tested and put into operation, "- stated in a press release.
At the same time, it is clarified that the focus remains on the construction of a two-stage system for cleaning gases from sintering machines. The first stage of cleaning sinter gases (cyclones) allows cleaning the dust and gas flow from the coarse fraction of dust. At the second stage - in bag filters - its finer cleaning takes place. They also make it possible to clean sinter gases and sulfur compounds.
All 12 sintering machines have already been equipped with aspiration systems in the sintering zone. The necessary equipment was installed in the cooling zone of the second sinter casing. At the final stage of work on the installation of the second stage of gas cleaning on the cooling zone of the remaining six machines.
"The adjustment of the software of the gas cleaning equipment control system is now being carried out by specialists from Italy. With its help, the employees of the enterprise will be able to monitor all technological processes from computer monitors and promptly respond in the event of a change in parameters, " the press release summarizes. /p>
As reported, the "Metinvest " group continued to carry out a key environmental project: construction and installation work on the installation of complexes for a new two-stage purification of sinter gases and sintering zones for 12 sintering machines in the sinter shop at the Ilyich Steel Plant. The first stage is coarse dust removal using modern Italian cyclones HURRICLONE, the second is gas post-treatment from dust and sulfur compounds in powerful bag filters, which reduce dust emissions by more than 10 times.
The installation of the software was planned for the first quarter of 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, Italian specialists left the country in early spring, without installing all the equipment necessary for further debugging. To date, thanks to the relaxation of quarantine measures, Italian specialists have been able to proceed with the completion of the project.
The ecological modernization of the sinter plant has been going on for more than seven years.
