At the Dnieper Metallurgical Plant, they began dismantling the old lifting and rotating stand for CCM-2, to replace which, according to the 2020 investment program, the company purchased a new stand with an improved modification. The equipment is planned to be commissioned by the end of the year.
Dismantling works are supervised by specialists from the capital construction department of the DMK.
“Since the old equipment is outdated, in the last years of its operation, the value of the bucket lifting capacity has been reduced to 230 tons. Despite the fact that the initial technical characteristics of this stand provide for 250 tons, the converter produces the same amount of steel in one melt. Accordingly, in order not to underestimate the economic indicators during production and to bottle the required 250 tons, the management of the enterprise decided to replace the old stand with a new one. Today our task is to dismantle a large-sized structure weighing 520 tons and turn off the power systems that ensure its operation, ”commented Vitaliy Kryachko, head of investment projects and programs of the UKS DMK.
Teams of contractors from Metinvest-Promservice LLC were involved in dismantling work. The enlarged assembly of the new stand has been completed. In terms of technical characteristics, this equipment is an order of magnitude higher than its predecessor.
