Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krykliy invited Austrian companies to cooperate and participate in the selection of a manufacturer of electric locomotives for JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia " (UZ).
As the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reported on Wednesday, he said this during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Ukraine Gernot Pfandler and representatives of Austrian business.
The Ministry noted that representatives of the Austrian business, in turn, presented to the Minister their proposals for the implementation of promising infrastructure projects, including the electrification of the railway.
According to the ministry, during the meeting, Krikliy stressed the importance of enhancing joint efforts to stimulate the freight market and noted that in July 2019, the ministry appealed to the Federal Minister for Climate, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology of Austria with a request to allocate an additional 4 thousand permits for Ukrainian carriers. As of today, all Austrian transport permits have already been issued almost in full. Therefore, the Ukrainian side expects to resolve this issue and obtain additional permits by the end of this year.
The parties also discussed the possibility of cooperation in the restoration of the road infrastructure of Ukraine and the implementation of concession projects in road construction.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the Austrian side for the support in the exchange of experience on the implementation of WIM and Tolling system and positively noted the signing of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the road sector between the Austrian company ASFINAG and Ukravtodor.
