Ukrzaliznytsia started mass production of brake pads

Ukrainian Railways mastered and began mass production of "ChS" type brake pads for electric locomotives. The part is produced at the facilities of Dnepropetrovsk Diesel Locomotive Repair Plant (DTRZ). This was announced by a member of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia Frantisek Buresh.

According to him, batch production of brake pads will allow the company to improve traffic safety on the railway, eliminate problems with purchasing parts and, most importantly, save jobs.

“This is a huge step forward in the company's refurbishment sector. Firstly, it will allow us to be independent in the procurement of components, because DTRZ will be able to cover the annual demand of Ukrzaliznytsia for brake pads of this type. Secondly, it will improve the state of traffic safety. And the most important thing is that we will be able to load the foundry shop of the plant by 100%, and this is the preservation of jobs and our railway personnel, "said a member of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Frantisek Buresh recalled that DTRZ can produce from 2 to 4 thousand brake pads monthly, while the monthly demand of Ukrzaliznytsia for pads of this type is up to 5 thousand units.

Recall that according to the development strategy of Ukrzaliznytsia for 2019-2023, the company will be divided into four business verticals in the areas of cargo transportation, passenger transportation, infrastructure, production and repair.

As previously reported by the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Volodymyr Zhmak, in 2021 the amount of investments in the renewal of infrastructure, locomotives, freight cars and passenger traffic will amount to more than 25 billion hryvnia, of which 4.1 billion hryvnia - in the locomotive economy.
