For 7 months of 2021, Ukraine has seen an increase in the capacity of the domestic rolled metal market by 11.85% compared to January-July 2020, with a simultaneous decrease in the share of the import component by 5.05%. This was reported in the association of enterprises " Ukrmetallurgprom ".
According to the association, in January-July 2021, the capacity of the domestic market for rolled metal in Ukraine amounted to 2840.3 thousand tons, of which 577.3 thousand tons, or 20.33%, accounted for imports. In January-July 2020, the capacity of the domestic market was 2539.4 thousand tons, of which 644.4 thousand tons, or 25.38%, were imported.
In general, in January-July 2021, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 11.33 million tons of rolled metal (106.38% compared to January-July 2020), of which, according to V.S.K. GROUP, about 9 were exported , 06 million tons, or 80.0%. For 7 months of 2020, the share of exports amounted to 82.2% (8.75 million tons with a total production of 10.65 million tons of rolled metal).
The share of semi-finished steel products in export deliveries for 7 months of 2021 accounted for 46.09%, which is lower than the indicator for the same period in 2020 (49.31%). The share of flat products in export deliveries in January-July 2021 is noticeably higher than in January-July 2020 (37.69% and 32.71%, respectively). The share of long products in export deliveries for 7 months of 2021 is inferior to the indicator for the same period in 2020 (16.22% in 2021 versus 17.97% in 2020).
The main export markets of Ukrainian metal products in January-July 2021, according to V.S.K. GROUP, are the countries of the European Union (33.7%), other European countries (21.5%) and South America (10.5%).
Among steel importers to Ukraine for 7 months of 2021, the CIS ranks first (39.7%), the second is the EU-27 (22.4%), and the third is other European countries (19.4%).
