According to the OP "Ukrmetallurgprom", in January-August 2021, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 13.01 million tons of rolled metal (106.0% relative to January-August 2020), of which, according to V.S.K. GROUP, exported about 10.22 million tons, or 78.5%. For 8 months of 2020, the share of exports amounted to 82.4% (10.12 million tons with a total production of 12.28 million tons of rolled metal).
The share of semi-finished products in export deliveries for 8 months of 2021 accounted for 46.55%, which is lower than the indicator for the same period in 2020 (50.44%). The share of flat products in export deliveries in January-August 2021 is noticeably higher than in January-August 2020 (37.04% and 32.13%, respectively). The share of long products in export supplies for 8 months of 2021 is slightly inferior to the indicator for the same period in 2020 (16.41% in 2021 versus 17.43% in 2020).
In January-August 2021, the capacity of the domestic market amounted to 3507.9 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which 712.9 thousand tons, or 20.32%, accounted for imports. In January-August 2020, the capacity of the domestic market was 2,921.6 thousand tons, of which 762.6 thousand tons, or 26.10%, were imported. Thus, for 8 months of 2021, there is an increase in the capacity of the domestic market for rolled metal products by 20.07% compared to January-August 2020, while the share of the import component has decreased by 5.78%.
The structure of Ukrainian steel imports in January-August 2021 is characterized by a significant domination of flat products over long products (55.16% and 42.68%, respectively); in the same period in 2020, the dominance of flat products over long products was practically comparable from 2021 (56.05% and 42.67%, respectively).
The main export markets of Ukrainian metal products in January-August 2021, according to V.S.K. GROUP, are the countries of the European Union (35.7%), other European countries (20.9%) and NAFTA countries (10.2%).
Among metallurgical importers for 8 months of 2021, the first place is taken by the CIS (36.9%), the second is the EU-27 (21.8%), and the third is the countries of Asia (20.5%).
