For 9 months of 2021, 14.9 million tons of ferrous metals were exported from Ukraine in the amount of 10.3 billion US dollars. Compared to the previous year, there is an increase in export deliveries in physical terms by 5.6%, in monetary terms - an increase in foreign exchange earnings by 79.7%.
In the commodity structure of Ukrainian exports of ferrous metals, supplies of steel billets, slabs and metallurgical raw materials prevail, the total share of which is 58.9%. The share of finished steel products is 41.1%.
At the same time, the export of pig iron and scrap metal is growing, and the supply of steel semi-finished products (slabs and billets) is decreasing. Exports of iron ore raw materials from Ukraine in January-September 2021 amounted to 33 million tons, which is 4.8% less than the volume of external shipments in the same period of the previous year.
The geographic structure of Ukrainian metallurgists' exports has not changed. 35% of all ferrous metals in the country go to the EU countries, another 21% to other European countries, 7.0% to the Middle East, 6.0% to Africa and 23.5% to other regions of the world.
Imports of ferrous metals to Ukraine during 9 months of 2021 decreased by 4.1% to 761.4 thousand tons.
