The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) organized career guidance tours for members of the All—Russian Student Olympiad "I am a Professional" community to the Seversky Pipe (STZ) and Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling (ChelPipe) plants, as well as TMK Pipeline Solutions (TMK TR). The company's branches in the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions hosted 33 students.
In Polevskoye (Sverdlovsk Region), where the STZ is located, the career guidance tour began with the Severskaya Domna corporate museum complex. Its participants immersed themselves in the history of metallurgy in the Urals, saw the equipment of the mid-19th century and learned how steel was smelted in the past centuries. The students were also shown the modern high-tech production of steel pipes in the STZ pipe rolling workshop No. 1.
The guests of TMK's Chelyabinsk enterprises witnessed the process of manufacturing large-diameter pipes in the electric welding workshop "Height 239" and got acquainted with advanced technologies for minimizing the environmental impact of production. The visitors were also shown the AQA Balance complex, which provides multi-level purification of industrial and stormwater runoff up to the level of fishery water.
"You need to see modern industry with your own eyes — this is the only way to realize its scale, feel the atmosphere and understand if you are ready to work here. For this purpose, the Olympiad "I am a professional" and the Pipe Metallurgical Company conducted excursions to production facilities. At the Seversky Pipe Plant, the participants traced the path of metallurgy from the blast furnace of the 19th century to modern workshops, at the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant they saw how the production of large-diameter pipes and a closed-circuit water supply system worked. This season, TMK is the general partner of two specialized Olympiad tracks: the company's expert team has developed assignments for the final stage in the areas of Materials Science and Technology and Software Engineering. Graduates of "I am a professional" have the opportunity to complete internships and internships, as well as the prospect of employment at TMK.
