OJSC "Uralmekhanobr" (a research and design institute as part of UMMC) will carry out an integrated assessment of the capital and operating costs of the options for modernizing the copper electrolysis shop (CEM) of the Copper Plant of the Polar Division (Krasnoyarsk Territory, Norilsk) on the instructions of PJSC GMK " Norilsk Nickel.
- Uralmekhanobr is the only engineering center in Russia that has the necessary competencies to develop projects for the modernization of copper refining plants, in particular, copper electrolysis, - said Andrey Romanov, head of the technological department of Uralmekhanobr. - Behind our shoulders are the designed, built and successfully operated the first and second stages of the copper electrolysis workshop of Uralelectromed JSC. At present, developments are underway on the project of technical re-equipment of the copper electrolysis shop at Kyshtym Copper Electrolyte Plant JSC.
The specialists of Uralmekhanobr OJSC started work on the terms of reference of MMC Norilsk Nickel in early 2020. According to its conditions, it is necessary to evaluate and justify three options for the complete technical re-equipment of section No. 1 of the copper electrolysis shop of the Copper Plant, starting from the restoration of the existing obsolete electrolysis technology using copper bases and ending with the construction of a new electrolysis shop using a baseless technology with full mechanization of manual labor and automation of the technological process .
- It is worth noting that a feature of this project is the complex logistics of the movement of raw materials, auxiliary materials and finished products, in which the movement is carried out by an underground method, - said Andrey Alexandrovich. - Climatic features of the area dictate their conditions. When developing a project, one should take into account strong snow and wind loads and a long period of negative temperatures.
