Severstal continues to support the creation of an accessible environment in museums in the Russian North

PJSC Severstal supported the training course for the additional professional education program "Specialist in the rehabilitation of disabled people with museum means and accessible environment in museums." The project became part of the educational block of the Severstal charitable grant program “Museums of the Russian North”.

Targeted training at the Moscow Institute of Professional Rehabilitation and Personnel Training of the All-Russian Society of the Blind “Recomp” was attended by profile employees of museums from the Republic of Karelia, the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions , Vorkuta, as well as Saratov.

The leading specialists of the institute introduced the audience to the main categories of disability, changing stereotypes of their perception, domestic and foreign experience of socio-cultural rehabilitation by museum means of persons with disabilities, ethics of communication with them. The legal, organizational and social aspects of rehabilitation were considered, recommendations were given for compiling a concise description of objects without special verbal explanations (typhlo commentary) when conducting excursions for the visually impaired. An important place in the program was occupied by the development of a passport for the accessibility of the facility and the services provided on it for the disabled and drawing up a road map of the institution. /p>

“Often, the processes taking place in the business and cultural spheres are identical, so one of the strategic goals for increasing the efficiency of our company in terms of its focus on investment means for museums the ability to work with visitors of all categories, including the disabled. By initiating and supporting such projects, Severstal helps museums to really master innovative approaches to social integration of people with disabilities into the cultural space, ”noted Natalya Poppel, Head of CSR and Brand Department at Severstal.

Practical exercises were held at the expositions of Moscow museums - The Darwin Museum, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, the Museum of Archeology of Moscow, the Museum of Moscow Lights, where the listeners gained useful experience in organizing excursion services and creating an accessible environment. Upon completion of the training, the participants passed the final certification and received a qualification document of the established sample.
