Kolchuginsky plant "Elektrokabel" (part of the "Cable Alliance Holding", which unites the cable assets of UMMC) purchased a hybrid twisting machine for twisting conductive conductors. Its cost exceeds 30 million rubles.
The new equipment has been installed in workshop No. 2, where flexible cables in rubber insulation and sheathing for shipbuilding, rolling stock, and construction industry are produced. Its capabilities allow up to 91 wires to be twisted into a conductive core at the same time.
“Due to the improved design of the machine, we will get a perfectly round core. A rotating gauge with a separate drive allows each wire to be laid close to each other, while relieving tension from it, so that it does not try to recover and break out of the structure. The uniformity of twisting is also ensured by the gears that accurately measure the length of the stride (turn of the wire around the core), ”explained Natalya Kuznetsova, head of the metallurgical bureau of EKZ JSC.
Due to the strictly verified design of the core, insulation can be applied in a thin layer. In this case, the physical, mechanical and electrical properties do not deteriorate, and in terms of structural dimensions, the cable wins in comparison with more massive analogs. Such products are primarily in demand in industries where cables are laid in cramped conditions, for example, in car building.
“Development of the production of ship cables, cables for rolling stock is our strategic task requiring systematic modernization of equipment. So, a couple of years ago, a completely new, advanced technology was mastered at EKZ - electron-beam modification of insulation. A significant transformation of the past year was the installation of a high-performance extrusion line for rubber insulation. A modern twisting machine is the ideal addition. Now we are ready to carry out even the most complex orders, ”commented Evgeny Sukhodoev, director of EKZ JSC.
