Press Releases

Severstal's COVID-19 community support program won the Leaders of Corporate Philanthropy2020 competition, a joint project of the Donors Forum, Kommersant Publishing House and EY in Russia. The company's project took the first place in the nomination "The best program to overcome the consequences of coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation", a partner of which was the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. In addition, Severstal was included in Group A (Best Practice) of the Leaders of Corporate Philanthropy rating.

The project is one of the largest events in the field of corporate philanthropy and social investment in Russia and consists of two parts: research corporate charity and social investments, on the basis of which the rating of leading companies in this area was formed in 2020, and a competition for social programs. This year the competition methodology has been significantly updated. Thus, the traditional ranking (TOP-10) was transformed into a rating in which companies were assigned not places, but categories (A +, A, B +, B, C +, C). When forming the rating, such aspects as the management structure, interaction with stakeholders, assessment of the performance and improvement of corporate programs, as well as the practice of disseminating information about charitable programs and social investments were assessed. Each questionnaire was studied by at least four experts: from government bodies, business, associations, educational and expert institutions. Based on the opinion of the majority of experts, points were formed for each assessed issue.

A total of 61 organizations took part in the Leaders of Corporate Philanthropy 2020 project. A record 100 applications were submitted for the nominations competition. 37 companies were included in the leaderboard.

Nordgold and Sveza Group (part of Severgroup) are also included in the Leaders of Corporate Philanthropy rating. In addition, Nordgold has been awarded the Prospective Debut Diploma in the Best Grant Competition nomination for the Mining for a Better Future social projects competition. The award ceremony took place on December 17 at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
