The Polymetal Production Branch of Uralelectromed JSC (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex) has put into operation a new battery designed for backup power supply of electrical equipment of converters of the metallurgical shop. It is equipped with stationary lead-acid batteries with a total of 110 cans. The nominal battery capacity is 1445 A * h. The service life of the unit is 25 years.
- The rechargeable battery allows you to secure the technological process. In the event of a power outage, breakdown of blowers or other emergency situations, the battery will turn on in automatic mode and energize the emergency turn drive of the converter in order to remove the lances from the melt, - said the head of the branch power department Oleg Kostkin.
Dismantling the old battery batteries and the installation of a new one were underway for three weeks. A team of electricians from the power department drained the electrolyte, dismantled the old batteries, the racks under them, and the busbar - busbars. The new battery was installed by the contractor.
