Metalloinvest invested 1 billion rubles in the construction of a unique sports facility - the multifunctional complex Belgorod Arena, designed for 10 thousand spectators.
The funds were allocated by Metalloinvest under the program of socio-economic partnership with the Government of the Belgorod Region in 2019-2020.
The arena was built within the framework of the federal project "Sport is the norm of life". The total cost of the project was 4.4 billion rubles.
Acting Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov, RF Senator Yevgeny Savchenko, General Director of Metalloinvest Nazim Efendiev, First Vice President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov took part in the opening ceremony of the arena.
“Belgorod region is a territory of sports. Today, more than half of Belgorod residents are systematically engaged in physical education and sports. And we strive to ensure that sports become an integral part of the life of every Belgorod citizen, regardless of age and profession! - emphasized Vyacheslav Gladkov. - Our region has brought up a huge team of athletes. Among them - 11 Olympic champions, 18 silver and bronze medalists of the Olympic Games, more than 600 winners and prize-winners of international competitions. The construction of a multifunctional complex became possible thanks to the decision of the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. With the support of the President of the country, you and I have received an excellent platform for the development of professional and mass sports, holding competitions of the highest level and large-scale cultural events. "
“We are proud that a sports facility of the world Olympic level has appeared on the Belgorod land,” said Nazim Efendiev. "This multifunctional complex will become a center of attraction for the residents of the region, provide qualitatively new opportunities for professional athletes, people with disabilities, and all people who are not indifferent to sports, and will promote a healthy lifestyle."
The opening of the Belgorod Arena is timed to the 25th anniversary of the Russian Paralympic Committee. As part of the solemn ceremony, the awarding of the “Return to Life” prize was held for Paralympic athletes and coaches who made the greatest contribution to the formation and development of the Paralympic movement.
On May 15, the All-Russian Summer Olympics for children with musculoskeletal disorders starts at the Arena. In the future, the sports complex will become a venue for mass sports and cultural events of various levels: competitions in volleyball, basketball, handball, mini-football, tennis and other sports, exhibitions, circus shows and concerts.
Metalloinvest invests in the development of healthcare, education, culture and sports, contributes to the creation of a comfortable living environment for its employees and all residents of the regions where the Company's enterprises operate. In 2020, the Company allocated over 7.1 billion rubles to the implementation of external social projects.
