JSC Uralelectromed (an enterprise of the metallurgical complex of UMMC) supplied bronze bearings to a company engaged in the manufacture of submersible pumps.
Workshop for the production of powder products of JSC Uralelectromed "managed to master a new type of product within the established timeframe. A pilot batch of 5,000 was delivered to the customer and successfully tested.
- The customer confirmed the high quality of the bearings. Now we are developing new types of bronze bushings according to the contract and are planning to increase the production of this type of product, - said Vladimir Kazansky, head of the powder products workshop at Uralelectromed JSC.
Manufacturing of plain bearings is a laborious process. First, tin and graphite are added to the copper powder. The products are then pressed, sintered, calibrated to precise dimensions and soaked in oil.
The process of impregnating bearings is similar to a kitchen pressure cooker. A vacuum is created in the impregnating chamber using a special pump to a vacuum of 0.8-0.1 kgf /cm 2 , which is about five times more than that created by a household vacuum cleaner. Then oil heated to a temperature of 60-70 ºС is fed into the chamber. It penetrates into the pores of parts from which air has been evacuated.
Finished bearings are highly wear-resistant. Mechanisms with such slide bushings do not require oil supply, as is usually the case with cast bronze bearings. In addition, graphite provides a reduction in the force of rotation of the motor shaft at the moment of starting.
