A high-quality and durable roof is impossible without properly selected shaped elements. These metal products ensure tightness, protect joints and corners, and give the roof a complete look. Modern technologies allow you to buy finishing elements for roofs of any shape and size, ideally suited for a specific type of coating.
What are shaped elements and why are they needed?
Shaped or finishing elements are additional details that complement the main coating and protect the vulnerable parts of the structure. Without them, it is impossible to reliably isolate the areas of abutment, the joints of ramps and pipes, the ends and edges of the roof. Manufacturers offer finishing elements made of polymer-coated metal that are resistant to corrosion, ultraviolet radiation and precipitation.
The main functions of such products are:
- protection of roof joints from moisture, dust and snow;
- strengthening joints and giving an aesthetic appearance;
- provision of ventilation and condensate drainage.
Types of shaped elements
The range of finishing parts for the roof is quite wide. The factory manufactures shaped elements of any complexity and configuration, depending on the shape and purpose of the roof.
The main types include:
- Ridge – protects the upper joint of the ramps from moisture and provides ventilation. A metal roof ridge is ideal for these purposes.
- The endowment bar is used to seal the inner corners where two slopes converge.
- Wind gable bar – covers the side ends and prevents wind and water from blowing out.
- Abutment bar – seals joints in the places where the coating comes into contact with pipes or walls (you can buy an abutment bar for a roof of ready-made sizes or make it to order).
- Snow holders – prevent avalanche-like snow from falling from the roof, increasing safety (it is important to buy snow holders on the roof and install them in advance of the cold season).
- Parapets, ebbs and drippers divert water and protect the walls from leaks.
Finishing elements for chimneys and ventilation
Areas around chimneys and ventilation pipes require special attention. Smokers and weather vane covers are installed here, as well as a metal skirt on the pipe, which protects the junction points from leaks. To improve traction and protect against precipitation, you can additionally install a windproof hood on the chimney.
