Steel production in China, according to the World Steel Association, in July 2021 decreased by 8.4% year-on-year.

Global crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 161.7 million tonnes in July 2021, up 3.3% from July 2020.

The association clarified that steel production in China amounted to 86.8 million tons in July 2021, which is 8.4% less than in July 2020.

India produced 9.8 million tonnes of steel, up 13.3% from last year. Japan smelted 8.0 million tons, which is 32.5% more than in July 2020. Steel production in the United States was 7.5 million tonnes, up 37.9% from July last year.

According to the association's estimates, Russia produced 6.7 million tons of steel, which is 13.4% more than in July 2020. South Korea produced 6.1 million tons, increasing production by 10.8%. Germany produced 3.0 million tonnes of steel, 24.7% more than last year.

Turkey produced 3.2 million tons of steel, increasing production by 2.5%. Brazil produced 3.0 million tonnes, up 14.5% from July 2020. Iran, which has been among the top ten largest metal producers in the last two years, has produced 2.6 million tons of steel, which is 9.0% more than in July 2020.
