Offshore wind farm in eastern China reaches full capacity

China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) has commissioned an offshore wind farm off the coast of Fujian province in eastern China, the company said.

The wind power project, located in an offshore area northeast of Dalian Island, administratively subordinate to Pingtan County, was connected to the grid at full load on Wednesday evening, CGN, based in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, South China).

The facility with an installed capacity of 240 MW is equipped with 60 power units.

It is expected that the annual volume of electricity transmission to the grid will reach about 960 million kWh, which will save 308.1 thousand tons of coal equivalent and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 900 thousand tons per year.

CGN Corporation is a major operator of the nuclear power sector in China. To date, it has built offshore wind power projects in the country with a capacity of 2,358 MW.
