Workplace childcare centers were opened by South Korea's largest steel company last June following recommendations from local governments in Pohang and Gwangyang.
POSCO Childcare Centers are built on idle steel structures in the factories with a total area of approximately 2,479 m². During the construction of kindergartens, environmentally friendly materials were used, creating a new concept of space, convenient and pleasant for both children and teachers.
Tropical fruit plants planted in the inner garden of the Pohang Kindergarten provide a space for science education. The open library is organized to offer children a fun reading experience and a treadmill for exercise.
The POSCO Gwangyang Child Care Center is designed to allow children to play freely in the tree-lined forest area and on the rooftop. A touch-sensitive digital moving wall is installed to create a play environment that stimulates children's curiosity and interests.
Since July 2020, POSCO has also begun implementing a home-based childcare system that prevents employee disruptions and promotes childbearing.
