The Chinese arm of American automaker Tesla announced that its supercharger plant in eastern China was in operation on Wednesday in Shanghai, less than six months after the project officially launched in August 2020.

The investment in the project is 42 million RMB (about 6.5 million US dollars). Factory covering an area of ​​5000 sq. m, at the initial stage it can produce 10 thousand superclass charging columns per year, mainly V3 models. The company claims that the V3 charging station can extend the vehicle's range by 250 km when charging the battery for 15 minutes.

Previously, all Tesla superchargers used in China were imported from the USA.

The company said that the opening of a super-class charging speaker plant in China will help popularize its V3 charging speaker in the country.

To date, Tesla has opened more than 730 super-class charging stations throughout China.
