French technology supplier Fives informed Kallanish that the company has received an order from Lusosider, the only Portuguese supplier of flat rolled products, to optimize zinc consumption at its galvanizing line in Payo Pires.
It is expected that in this way the steel company will increase the reliability of its equipment. operations, ensuring maximum quality and productivity while reducing costs.
The project provides for the installation of a pneumatic knife, which fully automates the adjustment of the conditions of the wiping process, optimizing the operation of equipment in the coating area. This solution also significantly reduces zinc consumption and prevents quality problems.
"This digital model can control the wiping parameters during transitions and smoothly adjust the coating weight to limit the application of additional coating and zinc consumption," explains Fives.
The equipment can be adapted to any tape processing line thanks to its plug-and-play system, which can also be integrated with other digital systems on the line, the supplier adds.
