During January-June 2025, 554.05 thousand tons of flat metal were sent to the Ukrainian market, which exceeds the figure for the same period in 2024 by 16.8%. This is evidenced by the data of the State Customs Service.
About 50% of imports are coated flat rolled products (UCTVED – 7210) – 263.26 thousand tons, which is 17.2% more than in 2014. The main suppliers of products during the period were Turkey – 139.42 thousand tons, Poland – 29.73 thousand tons, and Slovakia – 26.99 thousand tons.
Another 33% of shipments, or 182.93 thousand tons (+12.8% YoY), accounted for hot–rolled flat products (UKTVED - 7208). The key source of supplies of these products is Turkey – 139.11 thousand tons. Another 26.23 thousand tons were imported from China, and 4.78 thousand tons from Italy.
Also, in January-June, 52.82 thousand tons of flat cold–rolled products (UCTVED – 7209) were imported, which is 36% more than in 2014. 37.94 thousand tons of related products were imported from Turkey, 11.78 thousand tons from China, and 2.58 thousand tons from Slovakia.
During the second quarter, the volume of imports of related products reached 285.8 thousand tons, which is 7.4% more than in the same period of 2024, and 6.5% more than in the previous quarter.
In June, Ukrainian consumers imported 99.38 thousand tons of flat rolled products, which is 15.3% more per year, and 0.3% per month. Shipments of coated flat rolled products amounted to 66.44 thousand tons (+44.3% per year; +39.7% per month), flat rolled products – 17.07 thousand. tons (-24.9% p./g.; -46.3% m./m.), flat rolled products – 5.53 thousand tons (-44.5% p./g.; -42.8% m./m.).
In January-June, the cost of importing flat rolled products increased by 12.5% YoY to $587.92 million, and in June by 14.1% YoY and 0.8% YoY to $109.03 million.
