Feralpi Group will order for its Lonato plant in Brescia (Italy) a welding system developed by the SMS Group team. The EBROS system allows you to weld hot workpieces that have just come out of the reheat oven. The process can provide endless rolling, guaranteeing product quality, high billet production rates and savings in equipment operation.
The Feralpi plant, thanks to the introduction of new technology, will be able to increase the productivity of production by 8%. The EBROS welding system eliminates the need for trimming, increasing yields by at least 3%.
The new development is completed with an improved transformer system that performs cleaning functions, saves time on maintenance, and effectively removes burrs with a collecting bucket.
The function of equalizing the temperature of the workpiece at the entrance and maintaining the required temperature regime during the entire welding process is provided by an induction furnace with a power of 2 MW. It is developed and supplied by SMS Elotherm.
The EBROS welding system, together with a furnace with a capacity of 130 tons per hour, will weld workpieces with a cross-sectional area of 150 sq mm and a length of up to 12 meters.
The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for Q1 2020.
