Considering the numerous appeals of the People's Deputies of Ukraine, the administration, the collective, the trade union leaders of the Eastern Ore Mining and Processing Plant, local authorities of the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovograd regions on the critical financial and economic situation that has developed at the SE "VostGOK" Ukraine Denis Shmigal instructed the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Igor Petrashko and acting Minister of Energy Yuriy Vitrenko, to prepare and submit by April 7 to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine a draft Memorandum between SE NNEGC Energoatom and SE VostGOK on the integration of the Eastern Ore Mining and Processing Plant into the Energoatom structure.
This document must also contain the essential terms of the contract for the supply of uranium oxide concentrate, which must be concluded between NAEK and VostGOK for the period until the integration procedure is completed.
The order will be under the control of Oleg Urusky, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Oleg Nemchinov, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Yarema.
SE "Vostochny Mining and Processing Plant" (VostGOK) in 2020 reduced the production of uranium oxide concentrate (UOK) by 7.1% (by 57.2 tons) compared to 2019 - to 743.7 tons. VostGOK is the only uranium ore mining and processing enterprise in Ukraine and the largest in Europe. The annual demand of Ukrainian nuclear power plants for uranium concentrate is about 2.4 thousand tons.
