For a stable passage of the heating season and meeting the needs of generation with fuel, Rinat Akhmetov's energy holding DTEK Energo has agreed on the supply of coal from Poland, the USA and Kazakhstan.
Like reported in the press service of the company, in 7 months 2021 at the mines of DTEK Energo 17 new lavas and produced almost 10 million tons of gas coal. However, in order to guarantee the supply of fuel to Ukrainian thermal power plants, DTEK will purchase 320 thousand tons of coal from Poland, 75 thousand tons of coal from the USA and expects its supply from Kazakhstan.
“Soon Ukraine will enter the heating season, and our common task is to pass it steadily, so that Ukrainians will be with light and warmth. It became possible to ensure the import of coal due to the normalization of the situation on the electricity market, which made it possible to achieve economically justified prices and, thus, to find the necessary resources to prepare generators for the autumn-winter period, ”said Ildar Saleev, CEO of DTEK Energy.
DTEK Energy is a key player in the Ukrainian coal industry. The company generates a quarter of the country's electricity. The production facilities are represented by thermal generation enterprises comprising DTEK Vostokenergo, DTEK Dneproenergo and DTEK Zakhidenergo. The total installed capacity of our generating facilities exceeds 13.5 GW.
At the end of last week, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine turned to state banks with a request to issue loans to OJSC" Centerenergo "for the purchase of the necessary stock of coal for the heating season.
