Boeing resumes production of the 737 MAX at its Renton plant

American aircraft corporation Boeing has resumed production of Boeing 737 MAX airliners. This is stated in the statement company.

As noted in the document, the production of aircraft has been resumed at an enterprise in Renton (Washington state). The company plans to gradually increase production of the model throughout the year.

The company announced a cut in production of the 737 MAX last year. Since January of this year, it has been completely discontinued on a temporary basis.

The Boeing 737 MAX was suspended after two plane crashes. On October 29, 2018, the Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashed in Indonesia, killing 189 people. On March 10, 2019, 157 people were killed in the crash of the same model of Ethiopian Airlines in Ethiopia.

Boeing acknowledged that in both cases, there was a malfunction in the maneuverability improvement system on board the aircraft prior to the crash. After that, many countries, including Russia, the United States and the EU, suspended the operation of aircraft of this series for security reasons.

Also in a statement, Boeing announced 12 thousand job cuts due to the coronavirus pandemic. Of these, about 6,800 employees will be laid off, and another 5,520 will receive an offer to voluntarily terminate the contact in exchange for compensation payments.
