In May, Russia reduced the production of rolled steel by 8% yoy and by 2% compared to April of this year, to 5.3 million tons, follows from the materials of Rosstat. In January-May 2022, the output of rolled products decreased by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2021 and amounted to 27 million tons.
The output of hot-rolled flat products in May amounted to 1.6 million tons, which is 8.3% less than in May 2021, but 4.7% more than in April 2022. In general, in January-May, the output of hot-rolled flat products decreased by 7.3% compared to the same period in 2021.
The production of long products and hot-rolled wire rod amounted to 1.36 million tons, decreasing by 16% compared to May 2021 and remaining at the level of April 2022. For five months, the production of this type of metallurgical products decreased by 3.4% year-on-year.
The output of cold-rolled unclad steel with a width of less than 600 mm amounted to 29.8 thousand tons (a drop of 22% yoy and 21.3% versus April). In January-May, its output amounted to 194.7 thousand tons, an increase of 6%.
Production of alloyed steel in ingots and semi-finished products last month increased by 5% yoy and by 7.6% compared to April, amounting to 1.36 million tons, unalloyed steel and semi-finished products - decreased by 9% and 2.4% respectively, up to 4.86 million tons.
The output of pig iron (mirror and pig iron in ingots, ingots and other primary forms) decreased by almost 8% yoy and by 2% compared to April, to 4.27 million tons. In January-May 2022, pig iron production amounted to 22.1 million tons, a decrease of 1%.
Production of steel pipes and fittings in May increased by 3.4% yoy and decreased by 8.6% versus April. In January-May, their output amounted to 5.2 million tons, an increase of 17.5% year-on-year.
