In 2022-2024, heavy machinery showed positive dynamics: the market volume increased by almost 60%, to 513 billion rubles, and the volume of Russian production increased by 42%, reaching 284 billion rubles in 2024.

The industry's performance was discussed, among other things, at a government meeting on the development of heavy machinery, which was held by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the largest enterprises in the sector.
The meeting participants discussed the current state and development prospects of the industry, as well as the implementation of key investment projects. Another issue on the agenda is to support Russian manufacturers and protect the domestic market in areas where they have already developed relevant competencies.
Following the meeting, Denis Manturov gave a number of instructions. In particular, the Ministry of Economic Development and the State Development Corporation VEB.
The Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, was instructed to make changes to the "Project Financing Factory" mechanism, providing for the need to use Russian equipment, including for the development project of the Baim ore zone in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rostechnadzor and Rosstandart should work out issues of standardization and certification of equipment to ensure the safety and reliability of its operation, as well as to support conscientious Russian manufacturers.
