OOO "Hyundai via Rus" (subdivision of South Korean concern of Hyundai) on Tuesday started the construction of the plant of automobile engines on Levashovsky highway in Primorsky district of St. Petersburg, next to Hyundai car factory, the press service of the city administration.
investment in the project is estimated at 13.1 billion rubles, the plant's capacity is 240 thousand engines per year, later it will increase up to 300 thousand engines. A test launch of production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021, serial – in October 2021.
it is Expected that the plant will produce atmospheric petrol engines volume of 1.6 L. the Main components that is planned to localize the production of engines – cylinder block, cylinder head, crankshaft, piston, water pump and others.
the construction permit for the plant"Hyundai via Rus" received in may of this year. The total area of the production facility will be 35,185 thousand square meters, and test facility - 1,133 thousand sq. m.
As reported earlier, the investment by "Hyundai via Rus" are not included in the amount which is provided by specinvtehnica (SPIC) signed in December 2018 between OOO "Hyundai Motor manufacturing Rus" (HMMR, Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg), the government of St. Petersburg and Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation. The total investment on this SPIK may exceed 35 billion rubles, 16,679 billion rubles of which will be invested directly by HMMR, additional investments by the suppliers of the plant.
Hyundai Plant in St. Petersburg started in September 2010. The plant produces models Hyundai Solaris, Hyundai Grand, the Kia Rio and Kia Rio X-Line. The plant's capacity more than 200 thousand cars a year.
