Kharkiv thermal power plants began to stop due to high gas prices

Kharkovskaya CHPP-5 suspended production of electricity and heat in early May due to high gas prices, according to a company press release published on Tuesday, May 3.

“At the end of April, the provision on PSO ended, according to which we received gas for generation at a reduced price - UAH 7,000 per thousand cubic meters. Now the cost of commercial gas for us is at the level of 28.6 thousand hryvnias per cubic meter,” said Oleksandr Minkovich, Chairman of the Board of PJSC Kharkiv CHP-5, whose words are given in a press release.

According to the top manager, Kharkov CHPP-5 offered various options for solving this problem, in particular, setting an economically justified price for an additional service to ensure frequency and active power regulation in the United Energy System (IPS) of Ukraine, which would allow leading manufacturers electricity and heat work. without accumulating damage.

Minkovych also expressed hope that the Ministry of Energy, the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NKREKU) and NPC Ukrenergo "will eventually listen to the generation community and its proposals."

At the same time, as noted at the enterprise, in the conditions of martial law Kharkiv CHPP-5 is a humanitarian hub for Slobozhanshchina.

“The heating plant organizes the supply of humanitarian goods from Ukraine and abroad, and with the help of volunteers, transfers the most necessary goods to the inhabitants of the region. To date, the volunteer network of CHPP-5 is about fifty people who, under enemy fire, deliver food to Kharkiv residents. Every week, CHPP-5 sends almost 5 tons of cargo to the hot spots of the region, in total, since the beginning of the war, this is about 60 tons of assistance,” the press release says.

Before the shutdown, Kharkiv CHPP-5 daily produced about 4.5 million kWh of electricity for the UES of Ukraine and about 5 thousand Gcal of heat energy for consumers in the Kharkiv region.
