According to the data of the Association of Enterprises "Ukrmetallurgprom", for 8 months of 2022, 5.19 million tons of steel were produced in Ukraine, which amounted to 35.5% of the level of production for the same period last year (APPG). Pig iron production amounted to 5.15 million tons (35.6% compared to January-August 2021), while the output of finished rolled steel decreased to 4.48 million tons (34.4% of APPG).
In August 2022, Ukrainian ferrous metallurgy enterprises increased steel production by 29% compared to July to 366 thousand tons against 284 thousand tons in July.
In total, from April to August, Ukrainian steel plants smelted 1.5 million tons of steel. Before the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine on February 24, steel production in the country grew compared to last year to 3.3 million tons.
