Kazakhstan accuses Russia of disrupting thermal coal supplies to Ukraine

The Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan said that Moscow's actions to set quotas on coal supplies to Ukraine should be viewed as an obstacle with "signs of a barrier in the functioning of the internal market."

To resolve the dispute, it is planned to create an intergovernmental commission of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will meet on October 14-15.

Earlier it was reported that Russia supplies coal and oil products to Ukraine only under special permits issued by the RF Ministry of Finance. This procedure should not formally concern transit cargo, but in reality, as they say in Kazakhstan, this is not the case.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan also stated that the restriction on exports to Ukraine led to an oversupply of coal on the Russian domestic market, as a result of which prices dropped significantly.

Kazakhstan supplies to Ukraine mainly thermal coal of D grade and concentrate of K + KZh coal grades used in the by-product coke industry.

Recall that in early October, according to the chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine Mikhail Volynts, Russia blocked the Belarusian corridor for the supply of thermal coal in Ukraine.

"The situation with the filling of coal warehouses of thermal power plants on the eve of winter was already unsatisfactory, now it will become catastrophic," Volynets said on his Facebook page.
