Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency Committee Sergey Savchuk held a meeting with representatives of the Qatari company Nebras Power, with whom he discussed the investment potential of clean energy, energy efficiency and energy waste disposal in Ukraine.
As you know, Qatar has a powerful gas and oil industry. At the same time, according to Qatar National Vision 2030, this country is heading towards economic diversification and sustainable development.
According to company representatives, Nebras Power specializes in energy production projects, incl. from renewable sources around the world. Thus, over the past 5 years, the company has introduced energy projects with a total capacity of about 4.8 GW in countries such as the Netherlands, Jordan, Indonesia and others.
In turn, S. Savchuk presented the achievements and legislative framework of Ukraine in "clean" energy and energy efficiency.
The parties paid special attention to the prospects for the development of the production of liquid biofuel, biogas, and energy from waste.
S. Savchuk also introduced the company's representatives to the Investment Interactive Map of Ukraine "UAMAP" (https://uamap.org.ua).
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to work out the priority areas of cooperation between the two countries, as well as potential projects in these areas.
Statistics show that the situation with high-quality biofuel on the Ukrainian market is quite encouraging. In 2018, about 150 thousand tons of fuel briquettes were produced in Ukraine. And that's a lot. As a result, the bioenergy market grew by 35% last year alone.
