Ukrzaliznytsya, the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine and the company Wabtec (GE Transportation) on December 30 signed a Memorandum of understanding providing for the strengthening of joint work to conclude contracts for the supply in 2020, 40 new locomotives of the TE AC 33, manufactured by General Electric and the provision of maintenance services for 70 of these locomotives. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsya" Evgeny Kravtsov.
"After delivery of all 30 TE33AC locomotive first order in March 2019 we have been negotiating about the form and cost of maintenance of these locomotives. It should be noted that with the arrival of the new Minister of infrastructure, those talks intensified, and now we have entered the final stage, when we understand the service we want to and have an understanding of commercial conditions of this service", he said.
Evgeny Kravtsov emphasized that the main question of the delivery of a new batch of locomotives General Electric is their cost and terms of financing.
"Our colleagues from General Electric, along with financial partners have provided us with quite attractive conditions. We are now at the final stage of approval of these conditions and will start after the preparation of the project documentation. We're also in talks with the manufacturer about the expansion of localization of production in Ukraine", - said the head of Railways.

Ukrzaliznytsia in March of 2019, was in the negotiation process for service previously supplied locomotives and its cost. My task was to speed up these processes, however, provide the most favorable conditions for Ukraine. Now General Electric, along with financial partners have provided us with terms that we consider acceptable. We finalize approval of these conditions after the start of preparation of project documentation. Another important point is the expansion of localization of production in Ukraine. We are in discussions," said infrastructure Minister Vladislav Crickley.
