China has almost overcome the epidemic and was able to return to normal operation, said General Director of "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" (AMKR) Mauro Longobardo.
"It gave us the opportunity to start shipments of concentrate to China by sea. At the moment we are working hard to reach the level of shipments of up to 300 thousand tons of concentrate per month. However, it is very difficult to reroute the rail to Europe by sea route to China. Together with our team and partners in logistics, we have the situation under control and managed to find solutions for various issues", - said the head of AMKR.
G-n Longobardo stressed that his company does not intend to change the long-term development strategy for the next five years, and all initiatives for the implementation of environmental projects will be implemented.
"the new Construction of the pelletizing plant, gas purification in the Converter plant, the modernization of blast furnace No. 9 is a key investment projects for our company," he said.
G-n Longobardo noted that companies of the ArcelorMittal Group, especially in the most affected countries, are suffering huge losses in a pandemic COVID-19 and need to be prepared for the worst scenarios. Now the company is trying to mobilize all available reserves to reduce costs, to keep business and team.
