The Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals ( UAVtormet ) has published the official data on the consumption of ferrous metal scrap by the country's steelmaking enterprises for March 2020. The statistics look like this:
- The total amount of received scrap is 283 thousand tons.
- Launched into production (melted down) - 238 thousand tons.
At the same time, the analysts of the association draw attention to the fact that between January - February last year and the same period of the current, there was a decrease in the export of ferrous scrap by 4.5% (from 11 392 tons in 2019, to 10 879 tons in 2020 ). However, already in March, leading Ukrainian enterprises reworked:
- Interpipe - 64,900 tons.
- ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih - 48 400 tons.
- Azovstal - 47,100 tons.
- DMK (46,000 tons) and the Ilyich Iron and Steel Works - 32,800 tons.
The forecast for the export and production of ferrous scrap in April is not carried out for quite understandable reasons - the crisis trends in the world economy and the government's quarantine measures.
