At the Dnieper Metallurgical Plant (DMK), in the converter department, the current repair of the draft mechanisms of the ferroalloy calcining furnace No. 7 was carried out. The repair was carried out in accordance with the order for the plant "On measures to protect the air and water pools in the workshops of the plant for 2020".
The function of the furnace draft mechanism is to suck in air to dry ferroalloys and remove solid dust particles through the treatment plant. The purpose of the current repair is to ensure the reliability of technological equipment and to optimize the environmental parameters of the production environment.
“As a result of rubbing the dust of ferroalloys with an abrasive of the duct of the draft mechanism, holes appear in it through which dust and combustion products can enter the environment. A well-performed repair allowed us to avoid this problem, "commented Mikhail Anosov, Deputy Head of the DMK Converter Shop for Engineering.
In the course of the repair, work was carried out to replace the metal structures of the smoke exhauster boxes, revise the joints of the boxes, clean and balance the exhaust fan impeller. The revision of electrical equipment and maintenance of the electric motor were also carried out.

The calcining furnace is designed to remove moisture from ferroalloys used in technological processes for the production of various steel grades. In total, the converter department of DMK has 8 furnaces for calcining ferroalloys, 4 of them are currently in operation.
