According to the approved schedule of overhauls in the converter shop of the Dnieper Metallurgical Plant (DMK), the repair of a mixer with a capacity of 2.5 thousand tons has started.
To ensure reliable operation of the unit and uninterrupted operation of the converter shop, overhaul of the mixer is carried out every two years. The repaired unit will provide the necessary technological preparation of liquid iron - equalization of temperature and averaging of the chemical composition before it is fed to the converter compartment and is poured into the converters.
Mikhail Anosov, deputy head of the converter shop for engineering:
- During the downtime of the mixer, steel production in the workshop continues, although the technology had to be changed somewhat. At the moment, we carry out the transfer of cast iron from cast iron ladles into steel-pouring ones directly with crane equipment, after which we supply it to the converter department. The consumption of metal for samples by chemical composition, of course, increased, but these are temporary drawbacks during the repair period.
The main part of the overhaul is the replacement of the refractory masonry of the mixer body. After dismantling the old lining, a full inspection and preparation of the hull for new lining operations will be carried out.
The aspiration system is also being repaired, the operation of the smoke exhausters is checked, and the bearings are being revised. The electrical part is being repaired about the tilt of the mixer, electric motors and other devices of the unit.
Repair work is carried out by already proven contractors Industrial Technologies of Ukraine LLC - mechanical part, and Stroykomplekt LLC - power equipment work. Refractory works are performed by specialists of the GOR company.
Over 17 million hryvnia will be invested in the planned renewal of the unit. The work will take 45 days.
