The presentation of a new financial instrument - the Fund for Guaranteeing Loans for Energy Efficiency in Industry - was held at the initiative of UNIDO and Ukrgasbank and with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of Energy Olga Buslavets, acting Konstantin Gura, Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and other stakeholders.
The Fund was introduced by the Agency's partner - UNIDO /GEF UKR IEE project "Implementation of the standard of energy management systems in the Ukrainian industry" and Ukrgasbank.
“Industry in Ukraine occupies 30% of all final energy consumption. We understand how important it is to develop energy efficiency in this sector. For this, together with UNIDO, a series of national energy efficiency standards have been developed, energy managers have been trained, recommendations have been prepared for the implementation of the twenty-seventh EU Directive, and proposals have been developed to launch enterprise support tools. One of them is the Loan Guarantee Fund ", - K. Goura said.
Thanks to the fund, Ukrainian industrial enterprises will have a unique opportunity to attract loans without collateral and at a lower interest rate for the implementation of energy management systems and energy efficiency measures.
Main characteristics of loans:
- Loan amount in the equivalent of up to 150 thousand dollars;
- Loan term: up to 18 months;
- No personal contribution or security (collateral) required;
- Interest rate (for November 2020) from: 13% hryvnia, 4.5% dollar; 4% euro.
By participating in such a support program with attractive enough terms, businesses will be able to optimize and reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs, become more competitive in markets and reduce CO 2 emissions.
