According to the updated data of the OP "Ukrmetallurgprom", in January-December 2020, metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine manufactured:

  • agglomerate - 31.91 million tons (103.3% compared to the same period in 2019);
  • gross coke (6% wet) - 9.67 million tons (96.1%);
  • pig iron - 20.42 million tons (101.8%);
  • steel - 20.62 million tons (98.9%);
  • rolled stock - 18.43 million tons (101.2%);
  • pipe products - 0.85 million tons (83.8%).

As of January 15, 2021, of the main operating production facilities, 17 of 21 blast furnaces, 7 of 8 open-hearth furnaces, 12 of 16 converters, 4 of 15 electric furnaces and 16 of 17 continuous casting machines are in operation .

Provision of production with basic raw materials and energy resources

Iron ore raw materials:

Provision of metallurgical enterprises with Ukrainian iron ore raw materials for 12 months of 2020 was carried out in accordance with the needs of metallurgical production. No iron ore was imported for import.

Iron ore exports for 12 months of 2020 amounted to 46.23 million tons (116% compared to the same period in 2019)

Coking coals:

For 12 months of 2020, 13.29 million tons of coking coal were supplied to Ukrainian coke-chemical enterprises (96.1% compared to the same period in 2019), of which:

  • Ukrainian origin - 3.62 million tons (103.5% compared to the same period in 2019);
  • imported - 9.67 million tons (93.6% compared to the same period in 2019).

The share of imported coals in the total supply in January-December 2020 amounted to 72.8% versus 74.7% in the same period in 2019.

Cox:

The total volume of coke produced by metallurgists in January-December 2020 amounted to 8.18 million tons (92.7% compared to the same period in 2019), of which:

  • Ukrainian origin 8.03 million tons (95.2% compared to the same period in 2019).
  • imported - 0.15 million tons (38.6% compared to the same period in 2019)

The share of imported coke in the total supply volume for 12 months of 2020 amounted to 1.83% against 4.41% in January-December 2019.

Imported scrap metal:

For 12 months of 2020, 2,929 thousand tons of scrap metal (96.0% relative to January-December 2019) were procured, of which 2,893 thousand tons (96.1% relative to the same period in 2019) were supplied to Ukrainian consumers in as imported.

Exports of scrap metal in January-December 2020 amounted to 36 thousand tons (85.1% compared to the same period in 2019).

Natural gas and electricity:

For 12 months of 2020, domestic metallurgy consumed about 1.88 billion cubic meters of natural gas (104.4% compared to the same period in 2019).

Electricity consumption by metallurgical enterprises in January-December 2020 amounted to about 11.1 billion kWh (99.4% compared to the same period in 2019).
