Steel production in Ukraine increased in nine months of 2021 by 6.3% to 16.29 million tons

As of October 12, 2021, 16 of 21 blast furnaces, 7 of 8 open-hearth furnaces, 13 of 16 converters, 5 of 15 electric furnaces and 15 of 17 continuous casting machines are in operation.

According to the updated data of Ukrmetallurgprom, in January-September 2021, metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine smelted 16.15 million tons of pig iron, which is 6.5% more than in the same period last year. In addition, the association reported that in the first nine months of this year, steel and rolled metal production increased by 6.3% and 5.6%, respectively, to 16.29 and 14.49 million tons.

Sinter production in January-September increased by 7.1% - up to 25.35 million tons, steel pipe production - by 18.6% - up to 750 thousand tons and coke production - by 1.1% - up to 7 , 26 million tons.

As of October 12, 2021, of the main operating production facilities, 16 out of 21 blast furnaces, 7 out of 8 open-hearth furnaces, 13 out of 16 converters, 5 out of 15 electric furnaces and 15 out of 17 continuous casting machines are in operation.

In January-September 2021, Ukrainian enterprises procured 2,944 thousand tons of scrap metal (140.7% versus the same period in 2020), of which 2,489 thousand tons (120.4% versus January-September 2020) delivered to Ukrainian consumers as imported.

Exports of scrap metal in January-September 2021 amounted to 455 thousand tons (1,820% compared to the same period in 2020).
