According to the World Steel Association WorldSteel, Ukraine smelted 1.82 million tons of pig iron in January 2021 (105.2% compared to January 2020) and ranks 10th among 38 countries of its production. In December 2020, the country was on the 9th position of the TOP.
In general, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world in January smelted 119.96 million tons of pig iron, of which 112.14 million tons by blast furnace method and 7.82 million tons by direct reduction method. This is 4.76% higher than in January 2020.
In addition, Ukraine smelted 1.84 million tons of steel in January 2021 (99.8% compared to January 2020) and ranks 12th among 62 steel-producing countries. This corresponds to the position held in the ranking for December 2020.
