Today, on March 25, the national postal operator Ukrposhta and VIDI signed an agreement for the purchase of 1,860 Citroen Berlingo L2 Workers for mobile post offices worth 1.3 billion hryvnia. This became possible thanks to the attraction of an EBRD loan for 33 million euros. By the end of 2021, new cars will ply the country under the Mobile Departments project, comprising 2,500 mobile post offices.
“Today we have become one step closer to the day when every Ukrainian of any age in a village or city can receive high-quality services in a modern format. Either ordering medicines or goods, or paying for utilities or receiving pensions and social benefits - all in one place and at once. During a pandemic and lockdown, it is especially important to ensure uninterrupted access of citizens to such services, and a new modern mail format can provide this. Thanks to the Ukrposhta team, step by step she is implementing socially important reforms. I believe that at the end of 2021, all Ukrainians will appreciate the important and necessary changes, ”the Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy commented on the signing of the agreement.
“Today, providing 100% of Ukrainians with modern and comfortable postal services is no longer a dream. By the end of this year, 2,500 new Ukrposhta vehicles will provide quality service anywhere in the country and under any circumstances: demographic changes, coronavirus or weather crises. Very soon these investments will be justified a hundredfold by new opportunities for servicing the most remote villages, market salaries for workers and, perhaps, for the first time in the history of Ukrposhta, by the financial efficiency of rural branches. Therefore, I would like to thank all partners for supporting the important transformation of the post office for the country and, in the long term, for a qualitatively new standard of living for all Ukrainians outside of large cities, ”said Igor Smelyanskiy, General Director of Ukrposhta.
As part of the tender, Ukrposhta purchased a base car at a price 21.3% lower than the market price: the retail price of Citroën Berlingo L2 Worker for March 2021 is 572.7 thousand hryvnia. The cost of a full-fledged retrofitting of the mobile department was 679.4 thousand hryvnia. The price includes the cost of materials and work for the transformation of cars, additional equipment, branding, a 5-year warranty, repair and maintenance of each car within 150 thousand km on a "full-service" basis, delivery of cars by the supplier's auto transporters throughout Ukraine, their registration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and other overhead costs associated with the fulfillment of obligations under the contract.
“The event for which we have gathered today is not just a contract for the supply of mobile post offices. This is a historic event. After all, no one has ever offered or received a larger contract on the Ukrainian automotive market. Our business is literally three years younger than independent Ukraine, but during this time our reputation as an open and transparent company that earns honestly and fulfills all its obligations is only getting stronger. Therefore, it is only natural that today VIDI has a reputation as a reliable partner with all of the 15 car brands with which we cooperate. Our cooperation with them is a window of endless opportunities for our clients. Thanks to this, we can enter the market with the optimal solution for the vehicle fleet of any company - for any purpose and purpose. We are very proud of our cooperation with Ukrposhta, a powerful national postal operator. We are impressed by the reforms that Igor Smelyansky's team is carrying out in this company and which, as a result, change the quality of life of Ukrainians. I am sure that this tender, which we won together with our partner Peugeot Citroen Ukraine LLC, will only be an intermediate stage of our long-term cooperation, ”said Vitaly Dzhurinskiy, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VIDI.
Recall that in 2020, Ukrposhta launched 500 vehicles of mobile offices in 6 regions of Ukraine: Kiev, Odessa, Kherson, Transcarpathian, Cherkassk and Chernivtsi. 130 cars have been operating in the Chernihiv region since the summer of 2018. In 2021, Ukrposhta will complete the project of mobile offices and mobile post offices will operate in settlements with up to 2000 residents in all regions of Ukraine.
