DTEK starts inspecting its thermal power plants using drones

DTEK Energo is introducing a new technology for inspecting chimneys and boilers of thermal power plants (TPPs) using drones, providing for photo, video recording and thermal imaging control. This was announced on March 30 by the press service of DTEK.

“DTEK implements inspection inside chimneys and boilers of TPPs using drones. The use of modern technologies will increase the level of industrial safety, as well as help reduce the time for diagnostics and repairs, ”the message says.

According to the press service, the DTEK Innovations team at the Transnistrian TPP, together with Interenergoservice and DroneUA employees, tested the Elios 2 drone of the Swiss manufacturer Flyability. The device has already been put into operation.

Also, such a device will be used at Burshtynskaya and Luganskaya TPPs.

“Thanks to drones, it will be possible to find a particular defect in the boiler much faster, eliminate it and turn the equipment back on. Whereas earlier it could take days to inspect the interior of chimneys or boilers, now it is about hours. Last winter showed that reducing the time for equipment repairs is a guarantee of efficient operation of our TPPs and the stability of the entire energy system of Ukraine, ”said Ildar Saleeva, CEO of DTEK Energo.
