The Nikopol pipe plant "Centravis" has started the implementation of several large-scale programs for the environmental modernization of the enterprise. In particular, a comprehensive reconstruction of the section for chemical processing of pipes will be carried out, the construction of a reagent treatment system for acid wastewater, as well as the transition to autonomous modular boiler houses. The total investment will amount to over UAH 140 million.
The press service of the company said that concern for the environment is part of the Evolutionary Path of Centravis. In this regard, the company has developed and is actively implementing a number of environmental programs that will help reduce the impact on the environment.
One of the main environmental goals of Centravis is to eliminate the use of energy-intensive alkaline melt by radically changing the technology of chemical processing of seamless pipes.
To this end, the company has signed a contract for the supply of a new pickling bath, which will allow in the near future to introduce an innovative technology for chemical pipe treatment. The installation of the new bath is planned for the first half of this year. Also, within the framework of this program, a comprehensive reconstruction of the entire chemical processing section of pipes will be carried out, including a complete repair of the ventilation system. The cost of the entire complex of measures within the framework of this project will amount to more than 70 million hryvnia.
Another equally important environmental program is the construction of a reagent acid wastewater treatment system.
It is planned that the system will be built by 2022. The project cost will be over UAH 45 million. Its implementation will make it possible to increase the standard of wastewater treatment, sell sludge obtained in the process of wastewater treatment for recycling, start recycling of treated water with its reuse as process water for the needs of the reagent plant.
In addition, in 2021, Centravis will switch to autonomous modular boiler houses and abandon the centralized supply of steam and heating. This will make production more energy efficient. The company will reduce CO 2 emissions by 140 tons /month, and will also allow the company to reduce CO 2 emissions by 140 tons /month. The expected cost of the project for the construction of modular boiler houses is about 25 million hryvnia.
“The teams of all projects are working with full dedication and almost every week we can see progress. We already see that we will be able to complete the main part of the work under the environmental program by the end of 2021. Centravis will continue to actively invest in environmental programs, since caring for the environment and the health of our employees will remain our focus in a long-term strategy based on the Evolutionary Path, ”said Tatiana Omelchenko, Strategic Planning Manager at Centravis.
